Philosophy Statement
At the Aspen Institute for Behavioral Assessment, our mission is to provide psychiatric stabilization and comprehensive evaluation, assessment, treatment, and integrated prescriptive services for adolescents who are determined to be eligible for our treatment services.
To support this mission – and to ensure that all clients and their families receive the highest quality care with the greatest degree of compassion and respect – our treatment philosophy is established upon our belief in the following principles and concepts:
- We believe that problematic behaviors are often symptoms of underlying issues, and that our goal is to uncover the root causes of these behaviors.
- We approach all treatment options thoughtfully & conservatively, and all decisions are based upon finding the ideal approach for each individual.
- We embrace a non-punitive, non-consequence based approach. Young people do not come to the Aspen Institute as punishment or as a negative consequence of their behavior. They’re here because they’re in emotional pain.
- We place a premium on treating all clients with respect and compassion, and focusing our efforts on alleviating their emotional pain.
- We understand that we are working with young people in a fundamentally important time in their development. We don’t want them leaving here just being aware of what’s “wrong” with them, but what’s right with them.
Also, as a proud member of CRC Health Group, we embrace CRC’s five core values:
- Respect – for our students and their families, our employees, and our community
- Integrity – in our dealings with all those whose lives we touch
- Accountability – to our students and their families, and to our colleagues
- Responsibility – for the decisions we make and the actions we take
- Excellence – in every task we perform
